The aim of this document is to ensure Perth Festival complies with its moral and legal responsibility to provide a safe and healthy work environment for employees, suppliers, clients and visitors to site.

WE WILL:

  • Promote an organisational culture that adopts health and safety as an integral component of its management philosophy
  • Comply with all relevant Workplace Health and Safety Acts and Regulations including Australian Standards and Codes of Practice;
  • Develop a Health and Safety Management System compliant with Australian Standards;
  • Identify all hazards, assess risk level and implement the required controls;
  • Provide sufficient financial and physical resources to ensure the effective implementation of the Health and Safety Management System;
  • Ensure hazards, incidents and near misses are promptly reported, investigated where appropriate and implement control measures to eliminate the risk of re-occurrence;
  • Regularly review health and safety performance to monitor the effectiveness of health and safety controls and ensure health and safety targets and objectives are met.
  • Consult and communicate with employees and other parties to improve decision-making on WHS and environmental matters;
  • Develop, implement and review safe work procedures;
  • Inform, instruct, train and supervise employees, clients and visitors to ensure a safe working environment;
  • Support and assist employees in effective injury management and rehabilitation.

Perth Festival is committed to assisting all personnel with work related illnesses or injuries to return to normal function as soon as possible, assist in the development of individual rehabilitation plans that involve all parties concerned in the rehabilitation process and to maximise the benefits for both employees and employers resulting from an employee’s early return to work after an injury or illness.

WE WILL:

  • Provide adequate resources to assist with and manage workplace injury and illness;
  • Consult with all employees to improve workplace health, safety and rehabilitation programs, and review the policy and procedures at frequent intervals, as required, or as changes in legislation occur;
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims in an equitable, timely and efficient manner;
  • Commence rehabilitation, consistent with medical advice, as soon as possible after an injury or illness has become apparent;
  • Provide, where possible, medically approved modified duties for injured or ill employees;
  • Respect the confidential nature of medical information and ensure there shall be both verbal and written confidentiality;
  • Ensure participation in a rehabilitation program will not disadvantage any employee who is injured in the course of their employment
